Bypass Fan Page
If you’re a regular Facebook user, chances are you’ve seen eye-catching status updates and “likes” from a friend. You might find that he or she has “liked” something such as OMG! Look at What Justin Bieber Just Did…Captured on Video! or Guys: 10 Surefire Ways to Make Women Addicted to You! Intrigued, you click the link, only to find that it takes too much investment or risks your privacy. You must click the Like button, add an application, take a survey, notify other friends, or complete some other time-wasting, risky task in order to see the compelling video, picture, or article that was promised.
If you’ve experienced that frustration, there’s a new site entitled Bypass Fan Pages that may relieve some of it:. The site allows you to see the content that’s “hidden” behind an application or a fan page. The appeal of the concept is that you don’t have to harass your friends or make yourself vulnerable just to check out an interesting link.
The site is generally easy to use. You’re provided with a periodically-updated list of fan pages to select from. Underneath each fan page title, you can click either the Like button, which will cause the fan page to appear among your “Likes and Interests” in your Facebook profile, or the Bypass Now button.
On the right side of every page in the site, Bypass Fan Pages asks you to “Like” their fan page on Facebook to help spread the word. You can also check out “Hot” and “New” fan pages, or browse the categories. Fan pages are categorized as containing images, links, videos, or articles.
The site designed to bypass Facebook fan pages has some potential drawbacks, but fortunately very few in number and minor in detail:
• You’ll have to log in to Facebook and add Bypass Fan Pages as an application to actually see the hidden content. You do this by clicking the View using Facebook button. In addition, the application will post every revealed fan page you view to your Facebook wall as a status update. Some users might see these as breaches of privacy. You can block the wall posts by editing your Application Settings.
• It’s easy to miss the links to the hidden content because of the large picture ads. One might even mistake the ads for the content. If you don’t like ads—and few internet users do—you might find this to be a minor annoyance. To avoid confusion, simply look for the link identified by the words “Hidden Link: View Now.” Sometimes the hidden content itself is a small image placed right next to the ad. Click on that image and you’ll be able to view it full-size.
• The website doesn’t seem to archive all fan pages, so you might not be able to view a particular page you’ve seen in the past. You’re limited to the selection provided by the site.
Despite the possible sticking points, Bypass Fan Pages does a simple job and does it well.
Overall, it’s a good place to spend some leisure time checking out the interesting, provocative, and often just silly fan pages (for example OMG LOOK WHAT THIS KID DID TO HIS SCHOOL AFTER BEING EXPELLED!) that you might not be able (or want) to access otherwise.
