Facebook made some changes earlier today which made it impossible for users of Chit Chat for Facebook to login – users whom attempted to login to Facebook Chat with Chit Chat were presented with a “Login Failed. Please Try Again” message.
We have now fixed this issue; however, you’ll need to install the new version of Chit Chat.
If you download and install the new version of Chit Chat for Facebook you’ll be able to login without a problem.

This is the short version!
A new release of Chit Chat, our Facebook desktop application, has been released today. The new release fixes Facebook login problems that occured over the weekend and introduces a new skin, proxy functionality as well as bug fixes.
Users are advised to update, in particular those that like to make use of their Facebook email address to login to Facebook chat. The update to our Facebook software, is however optional - at the time of writing, you will be able to continue to login to Facebook chat using previous versions (v1.45) using your Facebook username.
Over this weekend a fault with Chit Chat has developed. Users at the time of writing will find that they recieve "Login Failed" when they try to access Facebook chat using their Facebook enabled email address. A fix is being worked on.
For the time being users are advised to use their Facebook username to login with Chit Chat. Read more to find out how to identify your Facebook username.
Some users of Chit Chat are reporting difficulty signing in today (Saturday 22nd October 2011) we are looking into this problems and will update accordingly. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Chit Chat for Facebook has teamed up with United Parents to provide parential security options to protect children when they are using the internet, using social networking and when using Facebook chat online.
Users of the Facebook Messaging application "Chit Chat" are now able to opt into protecting their children online.
We've released a minor update today - Chit Chat for Facebook v1.45.
The version fixes the following:
- Users name incorrectly displayed
- Login Fail problem for some users
- Login gets stuck when user decided to login automatically and then exited the application
We encourage all users to update, however, it is not required.
Users of our Facebook messaging application Chit Chat for Facebook are required to update to the new version of Chit Chat. We've introduced some important changes to our application to ensure that it works with Facebook's new processes.
Today, you will have discovered that you were unable to login to Facebook chat using Chit Chat and you would have instead been invited to register for a new Facebook username even if you already had one.

Many users will have experienced problems accessing Facebook chat with Chit Chat for Facebook throughout the day today.
You may have experienced Chit Chat requesting for you to create a Facebook username when in fact you already had one. This error message is inaccurate and will prevent you from signing into Facebook chat.
This is due to an unexpected change by Facebook. We are sorry for the inconvenicence caused and you'll find Chit Chat back up and running within a couple of hours.
We were forced by a Facebook server change to update Chit Chat for Facebook today. As such, all users will require to update to the new version of Chit Chat for Facebook. On the plus side, we've taken the opportunity to release some new features never seen before in Chit Chat.

We have released a minor update today for our popular Facebook chat app “Chit Chat”. It was reported that a small proportion of the users of our Facebook chat application were experiencing difficulty with updating to the new version of Chit Chat, and as a result were continuously being requested to update. The issue has now been fixed and we apologise to the inconvenience.
If you experienced this problem you will need to download and install the new version of Chit Chat from our website.
Chit Chat for Facebook has been updated to Chit Chat for Facebook 1.42. All users must update in order to continue to use Chit Chat because we have updated the Facebook login mechanism.
It was reported on Friday that users were experiencing issues and that the Facebook login process with Chit Chat was failing. This issue has been fixed and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We have received e-mails from a small group of our users that are currently having problems signing in with Chit Chat for Facebook. Due to a recent update in the Facebook system some of our users are having problems logging in to our service.
We are in full speed of investigating what's causing this login problem to our users and we will have this problem solved as soon as possible.

Chit Chat for Facebook 1.42 is a substantial upgrade of our popular Facebook login application since its launch just over one year ago.

It has been reported that a minority of our users are receiving a "Login Failed. Please Try Again" error message when they try and sign into Facebook Chat using Chit Chat for Facebook. The likely cause is Facebook's new security features.
The solution to this problem is as follows:

Login to Facebook using your web-browser and select “Account” in the top navigational menu.

Select “Account Settings” – you should see something similar to the following:

Next, select the “Change” hyperlink which is adjacent to “Account Security” – change the option from “Yes” to “No” and press “Submit.”

Lastly log out from your browser and you’ll be able to sign into “Chit Chat.”
