Login Failed

There are many reasons why our Facebook messaging client may give fail to login and provide the error message: "Login Failed." Below is a list of the most common problems and should help you to enjoy Facebook messaging on Chit Chat.

  • Ensure that CCFacebook.exe is allowed by your Firewall
  • Ensure that you are currently connected to the internet
  • If your trying to use Chit Chat within a country/computer that is 'foreign' to which you'd normally access Facebook on,  you may need to go to Facebook.com to approve access within/on that country/computer
  • If you're downloading from the internet e.g. torrents, usenet or a website then you'll need to ensure that you are allowing Chit Chat enough bandwidth to login. I would suggest stopping downloading until you login with Chit Chat
  • Common Problem: Your Facebook security settings are too strict. It could be that you've been too strict regarding new devises or security settings regarding logins. The solution for the latter is to access Facebook security, and disable both Login approvals as well as Login notifications

Facebook Disable Notifications & Approvals

If you're struggling with the above steps regarding the "Login Failed" error message, there is a more detailed step by step guide on our FAQ

Tip:  Chit Chat supports logging into Facebook chat using your Facebook enabled email address and your Facebook username, as such, if one method doesn't work for you - the other method might. So try them both. Instructions to identify your Facebook username are on our FAQ

Unable to Login/Unable To Connect To Server

In the event that Chit Chat reports that it is Unable to Login/Unable to Connect to server, you will need to consider the following:

  • Have you allowed Chit Chat for Facebook ("CCFacebook.exe") on your firewall?
  • Is Facebook allowed at your place of work/school? If not, Chit Chat may be blocked.
  • Are you able to access the internet? i.e. use your browser, if not, there may be a problem with your internet connection.
  • Are you using a proxy? If so, ensure that the proxy details are correct. Whilst we support proxy functionality, we advise using a VPN as opposed to a proxy if possible.

Is This a Facebook Password Spy App?

Simply put, no.

We don't remotely collect your password information when you login to Facebook chat using Chit Chat. We have designed Chit Chat such that the sign in process is between you and Facebook chat, we do not collect or intercept this information.

Please ensure, however, that you download directly from the homepage for our Facebook Messaging tool. For added security, check to ensure that the installer has been digitally signed by "Athena IT Limited."

Chit Chat Slows My Computer Down Too Much

Our Facebook messaging application is designed to be very light on both memory and processing power.

We have taken care to ensure that Chit Chat works well on both new and old computers. As such, if your computer has suddenly slowed down, it's unlikely to be because of Chit Chat for Facebook.

Plura Processing, is an optional add-on that we offer when installing Chit Chat for Facebook. Plura Processing does make use of a small proportion of your computer processing power. If you wish to disable this, go to Tools>Preferences>Connection and uncheck "Enable Plura Processing."

I Don't Want My Son/Daughter Using Chit Chat

In comparison to internet chat rooms, Facebook chat, and therefore "Chit Chat" is a very safe way in which to communicate online. Facebook chat restricts you to only being able to chat with your Facebook friends.

If you're concerned about your child's safety on Facebook, you should consider also installing our partner software "United Parents" which alerts you to problems with your child's safety whilst respecting their privacy.

I Don't Want My Employees/Students Using Chit Chat for Facebook Chat

In comparison to allowing just Facebook, Chit Chat offers the opportunity to engage in Facebook messaging whilst not being distracted by constantly updating news feeds.

Numerous studies have proven that regular small breaks increases productivity rather than diminishes it.

Is Chit Chat Spyware/Adware?

No, we are however ad supported.

We make use of built in advertising provided by LiveCommon. Like most free software applications we make use of partner software products to pay for development, all of these software apps are optional and are not required in order to use Chit Chat. However, if you choose to install our partner software products - such as our toolbar and relevant knowledge, you should have peace of mind knowing that this pays for improvements to Chit Chat for Facebook.
